This is the first post in what I hope is going to turn into a regular behind-the-scenes-ish series about my designs. I want to peel back the layers and share where I started and where I finished. What my process is. How I come up with color palettes and where I find my resources. I hope you enjoy it and maybe even find it helpful for a project you work on someday. Two years ago, I started a little side endeavor called My Barking Life. The original goal was to connect people with shelter pets, but it very quickly evolved into a philanthropic effort.
I started creating original dog breed-themed wall art, then expanded my offerings to include custom pet portraits, and eventually added animal-themed merchandise that I sell on a couple of print-on-demand platforms. I donate a portion of the profits from every sale to organizations whose goals align with mine: to help animals in need. And I can honestly say it's been a long, strange—but beautiful—trip. I've met new people, made new friends (both human and animal), and learned a LOT about myself. I found my North Star and my purpose.

How to find the right trainer for you and your dog. So you’ve added a new puppy or rescue dog to the family and know that you want to begin training him or her. Depending on where you live, you might have a variety of options to consider. How do you choose the right one to guide you through one of the most important components of dog ownership? I have some thoughts.
This is part two in my five-part blog series chronicling our one-on-one training sessions with Pike. If you're curious about what happens in them and how sessions like this might differ from group classes, follow along. Read part one in the series. If you're just joining us, welcome. To recap the situation, Pike is a two-year old Weimaraner-Vizsla mix. A Weizsla or Vizmaraner, if you will, depending on which camp you belong to. We are the former because it's way easier to say: Wee-shlah. Wait ... that's a thing? Who on earth would put those two breeds together??? I know, right??? I don't know what to tell you. Both breeds are beautiful, but high-strung and with off-the-chart energy levels. It seems sort of crazy to double up on the energy end of things, but hybrids are all the rage these days, so I guess it was bound to happen.
